Skylab TV Vol.2 : "Howdy, Space Fans!"
The television footage from Skylab was originally recorded using NASA’s Day‑of‑Year (DOY) format and captured with the same sequential color TV system used during the Apollo missions. While innovative for its time, that system introduced some visual artifacts, and the only surviving copies of these broadcasts exist as 16mm kinescopes — film recordings made directly from the video signal. After more than fifty years, the material naturally shows signs of age, but every effort has been made to restore the footage to the highest quality possible. In a few places, additional 16mm film from other parts of the missions has been included to help create a fuller visual record of Skylab’s journey. Some segments were originally recorded without audio, and they appear here exactly as they were captured.
